Main Event

  • Skins: $20/day for skins net and gross
  • Tees: Blue
  • Qualifying: The first 54 holes will be net stroke play, using official USGA handicaps. The top 4 players will qualify for the playoffs. Hole scores will be capped using the maximum score system below. Ties will be broken by a blind putt-off. In the event of a rain-out, hole scores will be used for the number of holes that every group has finished, as long as at least 9 holes have been completed.
  • Max Scores: Kodiak Golf app should have your max score per hole. Max score is par + 3 + handicap strokes given on a hole.
  • Playoffs: The playoffs will be a single elimination tournament of 9 hole match play. The course will allow the group to follow and watch. Keep in mind, during the playoff matches, you will not have a maximum score. Strokes given will be indicated within the Kodiak Golf app. Ties for semi-final matches will be decided by a pitch-off from inside 50 yards. A tie in the finals will be decided by replaying the the first hole of the match (hole 10). If light becomes an issue, a pitch-off will be used to decide the champion.
  • Calcutta: We have had a lot of fun with this event in the past. Players bid, auction style, on the golfer who they think will finish well in the tournament. Even if you do not win the bid on yourself, you have the option to claim half of yourself by paying the bid winner half of the winning bid. On the other hand, if nobody bids on you, you are required to claim yourself for $20. All the money raised through the auction goes into the pot, and payouts will be made for the top 4 (40%, 30%, 20%, 10% respectively). The Calcutta will take place Friday night.
  • Weather: If we are unable to finish a round for qualifying, all holes will be used up to the minimum played by any group. For the playoffs, the match will not count unless it is completely over.

📋 Rules

Lies

We will be playing preferred lie in the fairway - you may pick up, clean, and place the ball within 6 inches of the previous spot, no closer to the hole. Rolling the ball with your club is acceptable as well. Everywhere else, we will play the ball down - no moving the ball or improving your lie with the exception of an embedded ball or casual water.

Lost Ball

Normally, you are supposed to re-hit, but due to time constraints, we are going to play this as a lateral hazard. Drop within 2 club lengths of the approximate position of the lost ball and incur 1 penalty stroke. In addition, we will consider all non-mowed areas lateral hazards. So, if the ball enters the trees or prairie grass, you can play it as a lateral hazard at the point of entry into the non-mowed area. Always discuss the situation with your opponent when taking a drop. Please limit your search time to a few minutes.

Lateral Hazard

For speed of play, every non-mowed area and tree line will be considered a lateral hazard. You can either drop within 2 club lengths of the point of entry into the lateral hazard, or you can move back from entry point in line with the flag as far as you want - you CANNOT use the flight path of the ball to drop along. Always discuss the situation with your opponent when taking a drop.

Out of Bounds

White stakes, white lines, and all areas outside the boundary edge of a course, such as roads or fences, are considered out of bounds. The player has two options:

  • Incur a one stroke penalty and rehit from the previous spot.
  • Incur a two stroke penalty and place the ball in the fairway, no closer to the hole, from where the ball went out of bounds.

Drop Areas

There are no desginated drop areas. For par 3s, we will play the forwards teeing area as drop zones.

Gimmes

To speed up play, gimmes will be allowed if the ball is within the putter head and the start of the putter grip (standard length putters only).

Speed of Play

We will be fighting the darkness, so please pick up your ball if you have eclipsed your maximum score during stroke play. Use common sense and play ready golf.
