VEENKER MEMORIAL GOLF COURSE

RULES BY HOLES

#1. THE MEADOW -Penalty Area: Squaw Creek

#2. PLUM VALLEY - Penalty Area: Wooded Areas lining the fairway as marked. The abandoned maintenance road in the woods to the left is not an obstruction.

#3. GRAND CANYON – Penalty Area: Pond area on left, directly below gold tees, wooded areas left, right, and beyond fairway.

#4. LODGE HOLE – Penalty Area: Wooded areas both left and right of the fairway. Out of Bounds: Property fence to the left and behind the green.

#5. APPLE LANE - Out of Bounds: Property fence along right side and behind green. Penalty Area: Ponds and bank as marked and staked. Wooded areas, both left and right of the fairway. Local rule allowing Provisional Ball for Penalty Area (Water).

#6. PEAR TREE - Drop Area for ball in Penalty Area – Out of Bounds: Property fence along right side. Penalty Area: Ditch between tee and green as marked. Wooded area to the left of the green. The abandoned maintenance road in the woods on the left is not an obstruction.

#7. BIG BOY - Out of Bounds: Property fence along right side. Penalty Areas: Wooded area to the right of the fairway, Squaw Creek and Clear Creek as marked. Local rule allowing Provisional Ball for Penalty Area (Water).

#8. ROAD HOLE - Out of Bounds: White stakes along right side. Penalty Area: Right side as marked.

#9. CROSS COUNTRY - Out of Bounds: White stakes and/or white line along right side extended to property fence and beyond green as marked.

#10. PUNCH BOWL

#11. DAVEY JONES – Penalty Area: Squaw Creek and wooded area along the right side of the green as marked. Local rule allowing Provisional Ball for Penalty Area (Water)..

#12. COTTON WOODS - Penalty Area: Wooded area right of fairway and right side of green as marked. The abandoned maintenance road in the woods to the right of the green is not an obstruction.

#13. OAK RIDGE – Drop Area for ball in Penalty Area Penalty Area: Wooded areas right, left and beyond the green.

#14. WALNUT DRIVE – Penalty Area: Wooded area left of fairway. Out of Bounds: Beyond Green as marked.

#15. OVER THERE - Penalty Area: Left side of fairway short of Squaw Creek Out of Bounds: White stakes/and or white line around the maintenance area, along the right side west of Squaw Creek and beyond green. No Mow to the left of the fairway across Squaw Creek shall be played as a Penalty Area Local rule allowing Provisional Ball for Penalty Area (Water).

#16. SQUAW CREEK – Penalty Area: Squaw Creek in front of the tee, in front of the green and along the right side of the fairway as marked. Wooded area left of the fairway. The small creek along the right side of the green is played as part of Squaw Creek. Local rule allowing Provisional Ball for Penalty Area (Water). In order to use the drop area on the green side of the creek, the ball must have entered the penalty area beyond the double yellow/red stakes.

#17. LITTLE BOY – Penalty Area: Squaw Creek as marked.

#18. GLORY HOLE – Out of bounds beyond green as marked.

Miscellaneous “Common Knowledge” The gold yardage on tee markers designates the distance from the post to the center of the green. Stakes along the sides of the fairway indicate yardage to the center of the green as follows: Blue – 200 yards, Yellow – 150 yards, Red – 100 yards #3 from the center of Gold Tee to the crest of the hill = 185 yards. #5 from center of Back Tee to End of Fairway (Drop Off) = 253 Yards from middle of Forward Tee (even with telephone pole to the right) to end of fairway = 200 yards #7 from center of middle tee to end of 1st landing area = 255 yards From center of middle tee to “carry” 1st creek = 288 yards

Rules

Play from Orange/Ames Tee Markers All Wooded Areas & No Mow – Play as Penalty Areas Use of Max 10 Strokes per Hole will take player out of Medal competition

  1. DEFINITIONS: Out of Bounds - Defined by inside points, at ground level, of white stakes, lines and boundary fence posts. Penalty Areas - Defined by yellow or red lines or yellow or red stakes
    Embedded Ball – Played through the green.

  2. DOUBT AS TO PROCEDURE: Each player is expected to know THE RULES OF GOLF and players within the group are responsible for making Sure that the Rules are not violated. When doubtful of rights or procedure, you may, without penalty, play a second Ball. Before either ball is played, the competitor must announce to his scorer his decision to invoke this Rule and the ball with which he will score if the Rules permit. The competitor and his scorer shall report the facts to The Committee before returning his scorecard. If he fails to report the facts, he shall be disqualified.

  3. SUSPENSION OF PLAY:

  1. For Dangerous Situations, ie lightning or other threatening weather. Signaled by one long horn blast followed by an announcement over PA system. Play must be stopped immediately. During suspension of play, all practice areas will be closed.
  2. For other situations: Signaled by three short blasts of a horn followed by announcement over the PA system. Individually, the players may finish the hole they have started if desired, but may not start another hole. Two short horn blasts repeated, signals the resumption of play.
    Penalty for breach of suspension of play - Disqualification
  1. OBSTRUCTIONS:
    Relief for interference with stance or swing, not for line of play. Ball may be dropped within one club length of the nearest point of relief, not nearer the hole. Small trees with plastic tubing and/or stakes around trunks are obstructions.

  2. LOCAL RULES: Holes with Drop Areas

    BALL IN PENALTY AREA: HOLES No. 5, 6, 7, 11, 15, 16

If ball is hit into penalty area, proceed to designated drop area. Stand beside stake, drop, add 1 penalty stroke and proceed.

  1. CELL PHONES – Use of cell phones during the round is not permitted, unless players are scoring for their group or using them for yardage.

  2. ALL TIES will be broken from Handicap Holes as per scorecard– 7, 16, 5, 18 etc.
