Information

Entry Fee

$50 with payouts for the top 3 (50%, 30%, 20% respectively).

Format

The first 54 holes will be net stroke play, using "somewhat" official USGA handicaps. The top 2 players will qualify for the playoff. Hole scores will be capped using the maximum score system below.

Max Scores

For simplicity, we will be using the pre-2020 ESC rules.
Course Handicap
0-9 Double Bogey Max [Blake]
10-19 7 Max [Joe, Pauly, Donnie]
20-29 8 Max [Brad, Hope]
30-39 9 Max [THE HILLY]

Playoff

The playoff will be an extra 9 holes of match play. The course will allow the group to follow and watch. Keep in mind, during the playoff match, you will not have a maximum score. Strokes given will be indicated on your scorecard.

Calcutta

We have had a lot of fun with this event in the past. Players bid, auction style, on the golfer who they think will finish well in the tournament. Even if you do not win the bid on yourself, you have the option to claim half of yourself by paying the bid winner half of the winning bid. On the other hand, if nobody bids on you, you are required to claim yourself for $20. All the money raised through the auction goes into the pot, and payouts will be made for 1st(60%) and 2nd(40%). The Calcutta will take place Friday night.

Rules

Lies

We will be playing preferred lie in the fairway - you may pick up, clean, and place the ball within 6 inches of the previous spot, no closer to the hole. Rolling the ball with your club is acceptable as well. Everywhere else, we will play the ball down - no moving the ball or improving your lie with the exception of an embedded ball or casual water.

Lost Ball

Normally, you are supposed to re-hit, but due to time constraints, we are going to play this as a lateral hazard. Drop within 2 club lengths of the approximate position of the lost ball and incur 1 penalty stroke. In addition, we will consider all non-mowed areas lateral hazards. So, if the ball enters the trees or prairie grass, you can play it as a lateral hazard at the point of entry into the non-mowed area. Always discuss the situation with your opponent when taking a drop. Please limit your search time to a few minutes.

Lateral Hazard

For speed of play, every non-mowed area and tree line will be considered a lateral hazard. You can either drop within 2 club lengths of the point of entry into the lateral hazard, or you can move back from entry point in line with the flag as far as you want - you CANNOT use the flight path of the ball to drop along. Always discuss the situation with your opponent when taking a drop.

Drop Areas

Hole 3 at Amana has a drop area if you hit your ball in the water.

Gimmes

To speed up play, gimmes will be allowed (and encouraged) if the ball is within the putter head and the start of the putter grip (standard length putters only).

Speed of Play

We will be fighting the darkness, so please pick up your ball if you have eclipsed your maximum score during stroke play. Use common sense and play ready golf.
